Hunkering Down

            We were aware of each other; both of us standing there looking at one another as it drizzled on-and-off. His feathers seemed more waterproof than my camera; I wouldn't know for sure until later, but I kept on shooting anyway, as I had finally found some palatable company in which to share a moment. They were hunkering down; I was just getting wet. Par for the course, lately, but at least I was out, spreading my wings with them, remembering the long and almost lost, but not forgotten, feeling of doing so. It was a good day.
