Middle Kings Canyon - a photo on Flickriver

            I scanned this 35mm Kodachrome from 1968 that shows a portion of the Middle Fork of the Kings River canyon, known as Tehipite Valley. My dad took a group here, but I can't tell from the few photos in his collection if he took them down to the river. 

23 years later, in 1990, I took a group down to the river from this spot. It was a steep, switchbacking descent of 3,000 feet, very challenging with packs. We climbed out upriver a few miles at Simpson Meadow, over Granite Pass and down to Cedar Grove on the South Fork.
