            There was a time in our lives that we were children.
Some even have at this time of life,
still others think they are children.
die others can barely walk or talk,
others are born head checks from the foot there ...
Some survive poorly fed,
with others already feeding program and education ...
Some play with what they find on the streets or dumps,
other play with high tech toys ...
Some accept it, doll without arms, car without wheels,
others only what is in fashion ...
In this global village to be a child still is not for everyone,
hardly said a consumer society,
plundering and wasting the resources of this village;
the future is tomorrow.
Kids today ... tomorrow Men and Women

Já houve um tempo na nossa vida que fomos crianças.
Uns nem deram por esse tempo de vida,
outros ainda pensam que são crianças.
Uns morrem mal sabem andar ou falar,
outros nascem chequados do pé há cabeça...
Uns sobrevivem mal alimentados, 
outros já com programa de alimentação e educação... 
Uns brincam com o que encontram nas ruas ou lixeiras, 
outros bricam com high tech toys...
Uns aceitam tudo, boneca sem braços, carro sem rodas,
outros só o que está na moda...
Nesta aldeia global ser criança ainda não é para todos,
mal dita sociedade consumista, 
esbanja e desperdiça os recursos desta aldeia;
o futuro é já amanhã.
Crianças hoje 
Homens e Mulheres amanhã...

O primeiro Dia Mundial da Criança foi em 1950. Após a 2ª Guerra Mundial, em 1945, os países da Europa e Oriente , entraram em crise. As populações destes países viviam muito mal, em especial as crianças. Os adultos estavam preocupados em retornar a sua vida cotidiana normal, relegando a educação a último plano. Muitos ficaram órfãos, havia muita fome, e condições desumanas de sobrevivencia, e muitos que tinham ainda seus pais vivos tiveram de ir trabalhar pesado para contribuir para o sustento da família.
Foi quando em 1946, a ONU (Organização das Nações Unidas), começou a tentar  mudar esta situação, deu-se então o surgimento da UNICEF que é conhecida mundialmente  pelo que faz pelas crianças em todo o mundo! Apesar de todos os esforços na altura, ainda era difícil fazer com que o mundo olhasse para os direitos das crianças, então em 1950 a Federação Democrática Internacional das Mulheres, propos a ONU que fosse criado um dia dedicado as crianças em todo o mundo. Este dia foi comemorado pela primeira vez em 1 de Junho de 1950.A ONU  reconheceu desde então que qualquer criança, independentemente da raça, cor, sexo, o direito a:

-  amor e compreensão;- alimentação;- cuidados médicos;- educação ;
- protecção contra todas as formas de exploração;- crescer num clima de Paz .

Em 20 de Novembro de 1959, foi passado estes direitos para o papel e então foi legalmente aprovado a "Declaração dos Direitos das Crianças", foi um reconhecimento muito importante; embora nem sempre sejam cumpridos. Esta Declaração trata-se de uma lista de 10 principios. Em 1989, a ONU aprovou a "Convenção sobre os Direitos da Criança", que é um documento com um conjunto de leis para protecção dos mais; e em 1990 tornou-se lei internacional.
