Leaves, a lot to the Imagination - a photo on Flickriver

            And now for something completely different.

This is a handful of fallen leaves, shot against a piece of white paper in a sunny window. I then converted to black and white and mirrored a portion of the original image to get the alien leaf-bug creature you see before you.

The inspiration to do this was this week's Gizmodo shooting challenge ("Rorshach"). I did a nearly black version of the bug for that (to fit with the challenge rules), but I really liked how the result looked with more tonal range, too.

This shot looks really cool viewed large.
