The Bokehlicious Guineafowl! - a photo on Flickriver

            The helmeted guineafowl (Numida meleagris) is the best known of the guineafowl bird family, Numididae, and the only member of the genus Numida. Helmeted guineafowl are native to Africa and are found mainly in the south of the Sahara. They are sedentary and breed in warm, fairly dry, and open habitats with scattered shrubs and trees such as savanna or farmland.
The Helmeted Guineafowl is a distinctive and easily recognisable species. It has an unusual body-shape which is laterally compressed with a disproportionately small head. Adults have a large, horn-like, bony casque or ‘helmet’ on the head, and long, pendulous blue wattles with red tips on the sides of the face.

This handsome Guineafowl was captured during a Photography safari on an early morning game drive in the Nairobi National Park, Kenya.
