Stuart is a familiar face around Glasgow and although he gets photographed a lot by portrait photographers in the city, I had never approached him before today. I initiated the approach with a smile and a gesture with my camera after he looked in my direction.

Stuart is a softly spoken religious man who is well read and has a passion for art, some of which he talked about and showed to me during the brief shoot. He suffers with multiple sclerosis but tells me he battles on every day, inspired by the courage of Stephen Hawking to overcome the odds.

Captured in situ, without relocating, and with natural light. I had just a few moments to spare with Stuart as I had to get to my train. I spent most of that time talking with and listening to his fascinating stories, the kind of stories that you can see written all over his incredible face. He tells me that all of the photographers say that he has an incredible face. I hope to spend a bit more time photographing him in the future and, as he is not online, offered him some prints when I see him next.

A lovely man with a lot of story to share, I thank Stuart for his time and hope that you like this rather 'intimate' portrait of him deliberately cropped tighter to his face, one of a few that I have. Enjoy!
