20140319_8745_EOS M-22 Chinook Salmon (#4 for season)

            From the surf at Rakaia River mouth (south side).  Just one of two fish caught in the 5 hours I was there.  River at mouth was dirty but sea/surf on south side of the mouth was clean and fishable. 5.5kg (12 lb).

The previous cast I felt a touch on my ticer (lure) so cast to exactly the same place and hooked this.  A couple of hours later I saw a fish with it's dorsal fin just out of water, so cast so my ticer would pass in front of fish on retrieve and I hooked up again, but after a five-minute fight lost the fish in the waves.
