Gerstein I - a photo on Flickriver

Gerstein I

            Archive image due to being sick at home instead out shooting the grebes which just hatched last week . :(

Previous viewers assumed that this image is a statement against industrial pollution – it is not, I just tried to capture the bizarre aesthetics of this frequently shot scene. In fact, the trees died from flooding due to subsidence (caused by local mining – yep, counts as industrial impact) and not from pollution, and the resulting lake and the area around it has been converted into a nature reserve.

Digression: A good colleague who got me introduced to photography long through conversations about composition and other creative aspects gave me his monitor calibration unit after upgrading. Among other colleagues, he picked me to because he thought my results are worthwhile (so he said) – hearing this from this particular guy with his special role in my photography is a very nice way to receive feedback, I think! :)
