Star trails behind the Bischofsmütze

            Star trails behind the distinct shape of the Bischofsmütze (literally: Bishop's hat) mountain. As no moonlight was available, the imaging sequence was started during the nautical twilight, which provided just enough light to illuminate the foreground.

This star trails image was created by stacking 53 individual frames using the StarStax software. Each of these frames is a 30 second exposure taken with a Canon EOS 550D at ISO 3200 using a Tamron 70-300mm telephoto lens at 300mm, f/5.6.
