In the car on the way to the first meeting

On Thursday October 8th the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz was honoured with the title of Knight of the Grand Cross by the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, in recognition of his commitment to European integration and solidarity as well as his work on memory and the assumption of responsibility, as a German, before the horrors of Nazism, demonstrated in his recent visits to Marzabotto and Sant 'Anna di Stazzema. Schulz, thanking Napolitano, called the recognition moving and an unforgettable moment of his life. During the day Schulz also met with the Secretary of the Democratic Party, Pierluigi Bersani and President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Gianfranco Fini.
