Miniature Coffin Closet Filled with Skulls ~ 1:12th Scale

            ”A Little Tale”…

If by chance, you saw this aged box with its primitive, even childish, drawings of tombstones on its top sitting in his backyard, you probably would think he used for garden tools, chemicals, supplies, and similar items. Its shape is odd; yes... it is shaped like a coffin. But, again, you might think that he has a sense of humor or uses the box for decorating his front yard every year at Halloween to scare the kids in fun. You would shrug your shoulders and give it no more thought.

And, that is just what he wants you to think. He doesn’t want you to know that this is his box of treasures. What better place to hide something than in plain sight.

He intentionally made the outside look like an old aged storage box. Plus, Mother Nature gave him a helping hand with her changing seasons to make it look even more uninviting. But, inside…now, that is where he spent hours and hours painting it and putting in shelves to properly, safely, and beautifully display his collection.

He built a gothic window for a glorious print of the Angel of Death he found at a tag sale. Then he carved out of pine a bat in flight and painted it black and added it to the gothic frame for a spooky effect.

Every day he was amazed by his own talents and abilities. Then, one by one, he carefully carried each of his skulls and placed them on the shelves. He arranged and rearranged them over and over until he was pleased with their arrangement. 

As he touched each one, he remembered and savored each and every single detail of how and when he killed them. He thought himself brilliant on how he slayed them. He scalped one, burnt one, and used a hatchet on another… 

But, his best ever, and most favorite, was the clown. Just thinking of his murder made him tingle with delight. And, then, after he cut the head off and removed the flesh, he made him, in death, a clown again. He would be a clown for eternity. 

“Gosh”, he thought to himself, “was there no end to my brilliance and creativity?” “Just wait”, he said aloud, “my new coffin closet will be even grander!”
