Cáceres-Plaza Mayor - a photo on Flickriver

            The old town of Cáceres was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.[9] The old town is delimited by a wall in two zones: inside and outside the wall. The part inside the walls (intramuros) is the one known as the historic old town.

The Plaza Mayor is the traditional meeting point for the people of Cáceres.

This space began to be used after the Reconquest as a city market, being urbanized from the XV century.

In its arcades, merchants and craftsmen with permanent establishments settled, it was also and continues to be the place where the events and shows of the city are held..., on many occasions it was used as a bullfighting arena or to hold tournaments; military parades and Holy Week processions have passed through it.
