To capture a moment in time when all the elements come together in perfect harmony is an amazing feeling. I had to be out of bed at 3:45am for a week straight to finally find these conditions, and I feel very, very lucky that I saw them at all. Even when Bromo is active, it can go for hours without erupting, and then it can go for days, erupting so often that visibility is zero. When I arrived in the area I never imagined I would get an image with Bromo erupting right at the peak of the morning light in perfectly clear conditions, with fog in the valley below. Out of the seven days we were in the area this was the only morning the fog rolled in.

I only have four spaces left for my workshop at The Colorado Photography Festival August 13-15. This is a three day festival and will be a great learning experience for those who want to improve their photography skills, and a very interesting and informative experience for photographers of all levels. There will be upwards of 60 like minded photographers in attendance, products raffles, a free photo book for everyone who signs up and of course the chance to hear some great speeches! (I also have openings left for my “Great Sand Dunes Workshop” and my one day “Barns, Windmills and Homesteads Workshop” HERE)

This is a three vertical shoot stitch in CS5. I used a LEE .9 stop Grad ND Filter to hold the details.
