Arrivée à la Gare Maritime de Tours et Taxis , exposition Sculptura #1, Gare Maritime de Tours et Taxis, Bruxelles, Belgium

            La première édition de Sculptura, un tout nouveau festival autour de la sculpture contemporaine et de l’art de l’installation, a eu lieu du samedi 11 février au 12 mars à la Gare Maritime, sur le site de Tour & Taxis. Les visiteurs ont pu y découvrir des créations de petites tailles ainsi que des œuvres monumentales d’artistes belges et internationaux.
Cette édition inaugurale, dont l’entrée était gratuite, se voulait être une mise en bouche pour la suite. En effet, en 2024, à l’occasion de la présidence belge de l’Union européenne, l’organisation compte proposer un événement sur l’ensemble de la ville de Bruxelles avec les œuvres d’un artiste de chaque pays européen. L’objectif à terme est d’ancrer la sculpture dans la capitale belge et de faire de Sculptura une référence annuelle au sein du monde artistique.
Les œuvres présentées sont issues des travaux de 22 artistes, notamment belges, comme Koen Vanmechelen, Arne Quinze, Jean Boghossian, Tom Frantzen ou Koenraad Tinel. Entre l’abstrait, le surréaliste et le figuratif, différents mouvements artistiques sont représentés. En raison de la taille de certaines d’entre elles (jusqu’à 9 mètres de haut, 20 mètres de long ou pesant 17.000 kilos), les réalisations seront exposées dans le hall de Tour & Taxis et dans deux galeries adjacentes.

The first edition of Sculptura, a brand new festival around contemporary sculpture and installation art, took place from Saturday February 11 to March 12 at the Gare Maritime, on the Tour & Taxis site. Visitors were able to discover small creations as well as monumental works by Belgian and international artists.
This inaugural edition, whose entry was free, was intended to be an appetizer for the future. Indeed, in 2024, on the occasion of the Belgian presidency of the European Union, the organization intends to propose an event throughout the city of Brussels with the works of an artist from each European country. The long-term objective is to anchor sculpture in the Belgian capital and to make Sculptura an annual reference within the artistic world.
The works presented come from the work of 22 artists, notably Belgian, such as Koen Vanmechelen, Arne Quinze, Jean Boghossian, Tom Frantzen or Koenraad Tinel. Between the abstract, the surreal and the figurative, different artistic movements are represented. Due to the size of some of them (up to 9 meters high, 20 meters long or weighing 17,000 kilos), the creations will be exhibited in the hall of Tour & Taxis and in two adjacent galleries.
