Polaroid group photo on the beach at Cannes, France in August 1969. Jean-René on left is local boy from Cannes. Joanne in middle from Grenoble. André on right is from Paris.
André is going for a reach-around but I am not sure that his move was appreciated.
This photo was taken at the eastern public end of Croisette Beach. The hotel at the far left would be the Carlton. The next one seen would be the Hotel Martinez.
Later that evening, I escaped from school dormitory and we four spent several hours drinking beer and lemonade in a bar and then later visiting the "Playboy's" disco. (Definitely not same as the US Playboy clubs). We bought one citron pressé each at the club to fulfill the minimum entrance charge requirement. We made them last a very long time. (Those lemonades cost about $5 each in 1969. I still have the menu).
This is a colourized version of this earlier black and white Polaroid photo. The colorization software seems to have a hard time handling sunburns and suntans — especially when in shadoe — therefore I couldn't quite get the skin colour correct. So I prefer the original version. Which version do you prefer?
