*SOLASTALGIA*

"As opposed to nostalgia--the melancholia or homesickness experienced by individuals when separated from a loved home--solastalgia is the distress that is produced by environmental change impacting on people while they are directly connected to their home environment."

The Packard Plant is one of those places that almost everyone knows, or has heard of or seen in the media. It's been used as backdrop for almost every major documentary made about the city of Detroit, and the people who live there hate it.

However most photographers who visit have it on ther list of places to visit, and it's large enough you can causally spend the whole day there like I did with a few people I met on the internet. This was back in 2012 when it was still run by scrappers and was being actively taken down for scrap. The next year it was bought by a sleezy Pervian developer who did nothing with it for under $400k.... 1 Million sq.ft of space.

Much of it has been taken down since the bridge section collapsed over Grand River.
