Klosterkirche St. Mauritius Niederalteich

            Der Bau der heutigen Klosterkirche (Basilika) St. Mauritius im Deggendorfer Land begann mit der Errichtung des Chores von 1260-1270. Das mächtige Langhaus entstand 1295-1306 und fand seinen Abschluß 1326 mit der Weihe. Es handelt sich um eine der frühesten, gotischen Hallenkirchen Bayerns.
Von 1718-1724 wurde die Kirche im Inneren auf das prächtigste barockisiert. Die mittelalterlichen Außenmauern mit den mächtigen Strebepfeilern blieben erhalten. Man ummauerte die gotischen Bündelpfeiler, zog barocke Gewölbe ein und schuf die Emporen über den Seitenschiffen.
