            Western Pacific Railroad EMD F7A diesel electric locomotive # 914A along with four other F-units is leading a manifest freight train as seen viewed going away in the area of Altamont Pass, California, March 18, 1972.  In this scene you can see the high capacity boxcars of the era and they look pretty darn good to me.  Eventually this railroad became the property of the Union Pacific Railroad in 1981, as did numerous other western and mid-western railroads over the years.  This photo came from an Internet scan.  The photo has been cropped and modified from the original to improve its appearance.  The original photographer's name is unknown.
