Meteorite Iron

            In 1967 a meteorite was discovered in Seymchan, in the Magadan District of far east Russia.  Constructed from a type of iron known as Pallasite, which is a class of stony–iron meteorite and is relatively rare, it can be distinguished by the presence of large olivine crystal inclusions.  Interestingly pallasite is not prone to rust and only a few bits of oxidation are evident even now.
I've had this slice of the Seymchan Meteorite in my Rock & Mineral collection for years now, which has been largely packed up since our move to Scotland, so it's nice to let it see the light of day once more.
