IRONY MAN - COPPING IT IN THE NECA FROM THE BLACK WINDOW

Captain America : "Well, Tony, if you say he's okay, I guess he can be an Avenger...I'll try and talk the Falcon around about the  dead bird issue...maybe it can join the Pet Avengers, although I'm not sure where they stand on the whole zombie thing."

Iron Man: "Do NOT talk to me about zombies! But, thanks Steve. To be honest, I don't know Tonto personally, but his great grandfather* vouched for him and that's good enough for me..."

Captain America: "Hmm,  him being a commanding officer and all, I'm sure we can trust his sound and sober judgement."

Iron Man: "Well Cap, I dunno about the 'sober judgment' bit, it was actually the keg of rum that convinced me..."

Captain America: "You traded an Avengers' membership for a keg of rum? Tonyyyy!!!"

Tonto: "Bad trade."

Just messing around on Christmas night with Gail and my Avengers 1/4 scale NECA movie toys and Sally's Lone Ranger Tonto. We set them up on a window sill, looking out onto the herb garden with the tomato plants in the background. (Yes, Tony wanted to make a Bloody Mary. Cap talked him down.) 

Tonto would hardly be the first American Western superhero, of course. He'd probably get on fine with Kid Colt, The Two Gun Kid, The Rawhide Kid, Jonah Hex, et al. Come to think of it, Johnny Depp's already been in weird westerns: Jim Jarmusch's 1995 Dead Man, and yeah, probably Rango counts too, and maybe even Arizona Dream and Once Upon A Time In Mexico!

NECA does great work. People can be a bit condescending about these beaut toys but there's no need for that, really.

No, they're "not Hot Toys", but then again those are not NECA figures, which are ginormous in size, robustly made, well sculpted, articulated and painted. 

And they don't cost quite so much either, although a fair chunk of the deal, by the time these blokes get all the way to Australia, is obviously made over to freight costs, given their size and weight. 

On the other hand, I also love the Hot Toys way too much anyway...

*Genre buffs will be well aware of the principles of Geekeology whereby characters in different movies or television shows played by the same actor are either fictionally related or are the Same Character In Disguise. 

Ah well, drink up me hearties, yo ho!
