Un festival de llum i vitralls / A play of wonderful lights

No havia entrat encara a la Sagrada Familia al vespre, coincidint amb la posta de sol. És un espectacle fascinant, ja que tots els vitralls de ponent son rogencs, en conexió a la posta de sol, mentre que els vitralls de llevant estan dominats per blaus i verds, en relació no tansols amb el matí, sino amb el naixement i la primavera. Així, el contrast dels grocs i vermells reflexant-se contre els vitralls blaus i verds de llevant és espectacular.

The sunset light in the Sagrada Familia (Barcelona) is something spectacular. With all the stained glass looking west in reds, oranges and yellows, it makes this warm light even more awesome. And as the east-looking windows have blue & green toned colours (symbol of freshness and the spring), the contrast between both sides of the nave is wonderful.

The catalan basilica of La Sagrada Família (The Holy Family) is THE global icon of Barcelona. After more than a century building it (contruction work began in 1882), in 2011 the interior was finished and consecrated by the pope Benedict XVI. It's an incredible structure, fruit of the unique mind of Antoni Gaudí. The ceilings look like a spaceship, and the nave and columns, like a palmtree forest. Work began in 1882 and should be completed in 2026, like the medieval cathedrals of old.
