The small Sawmill "Bovenrijge" / De kleine Zaagmolen "Bovenrijge"

Sawmill "Bovenrijge" :
 the smallest mill in Ten Boer Groningen, is the most versatile mill. Bovenrijge has served as a sawmill, polder mill, peeling mill and flour mill. This small mill was originally built in 1903 between Thesinge and Ten Boer by farmer G. van Dijk. He built the mill out of hobby and for his own use. The mill did its work until the end of the fifties.

After his active life on September 26, 1976, the windmill collapsed in a windless state. Thanks to the Friends of the Groninger Mills Association and contributions from, among others" the Anjerfonds" the Bovenrijge was rebuilt from 1982 in a different location, at the Damsterdiep. On 21 April 1989 the mill was officially re-used. The turning, grinding and sawing of the Bovenrijge is now done by voluntary millers.

Zaagmolen Bovenrijge mag dan misschien de kleinste  molen zijn in Ten Boer Groningen , maar het is wel de meest veelzijdigste molen. De Bovenrijge heeft dienst gedaan als zaagmolen, poldermolen, pelmolen én korenmolen. Deze kleine molen werd oorspronkelijk in 1903 tussen Thesinge en Ten Boer gebouwd door boer G. van Dijk. Hij bouwde de molen uit liefhebberij en voor eigen gebruik. De molen deed zijn werk tot eind jaren vijftig.

Na zijn werkzame bestaan zakte op 26 september 1976,  het molentje bij windstil weer in elkaar. Dankzij de Vereniging Vrienden van de Groninger Molens en bijdragen van onder meer het Anjerfonds, werd de Bovenrijge vanaf 1982 opnieuw opgebouwd, op een andere plek, aan het Damsterdiep. Op 21 april 1989 werd de molen officieel opnieuw in gebruik genomen. Het draaien, malen en zagen van de Bovenrijge wordt nu gedaan door vrijwillige molenaars.
