Rita Crane Photography: Pelicans at Sunset, Mendocino

Pelicans have a graceful relaxed way of flying and soaring. They had been out fishing all day, and here they were getting ready to land and get settled for the night. I didn't have my zoom with me or a tripod, so this is a slightly cropped version of a larger image and has plenty of noise but ........... such is life. A happy image, to me.......and I like to think these birds had a successful day and would have a peaceful night along the wild Pacific. They are roosting nearby....thousands of them!
