Welche Rolle spielt die Kunst für Sie?
Ich zeichne jeden Morgen. Für ein Gebäude mache ich 200 bis 300 Skizzen und Aquarelle. Das ist die direkteste Sprache, um mit meinen Mitarbeitern zu kommunizieren. Und meine Skulpturen bilden ein Vokabular, das ich in der Architektur anwenden kann. Baukunst ist die Summa artis, wie es in der Antike hiess. Sie ernährt sich von den anderen Künsten – von der Technik, von der Natur. Nichts prägt unser Leben mehr als die Baukunst. Aber Architektur umzusetzen, braucht Durchhaltevermögen, geschickte Mitarbeiter – und gute Bauherren.
