Fused Grid Equation - a photo on Flickriver

            Following the furrows of the bull-driven plow, land was sectioned in rectangular parcels that generated the first towns on level agricultural land - the way of the first man-animal machine. On hill-side lands the division was sinuous following the grade lines to lessen the climbing effort. 
These two geometries have persisted and adapted for contemporary needs: The grid for speed on arterials and highways  and the sinuous configuration for protecting neighborhoods from  traffic intrusion.
The Fused Grid combines the two geometries in a systematic way to achieve both goals. In the process, it breaks the monotony of the grid, creates opportunities for nearby open space and produces a variety of neighborhood configurations (shown on either side of the image.
