As Evening Begins to Settle In - a photo on Flickriver

This image was taken last summer from the top of Clingman's Dome, the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains.  I'm fortunate enough to live nearby and thus to be able to visit this remarkable place pretty often.  Though never often enough. . .

It was the end of April, 2009, that I first posted anything on Flickr.  One image.  A friend had invited me, but I did not really explore what Flickr was about, and it was not until April of the next year, 2010, that I began actually posting a few more images.  Since that time, my participation has grown, as has my photography.  The supportive and creative community that is Flickr has become very important to me. Especially my contacts, who remain encouraging even though my ability to be very active has fluctuated with other demands on my time.  

This image pushed me past 100,000 views.  It seems like something of a milestone, and is what is behind my moment of reflection.  Thanks to all of you who have been my playmates in this photographic playground!  Special thanks to my contacts and to the other admins in Perfection in Pictures, The Perfect Picture, Masterclass, Exhibition of Talent and related step-up groups who have made a place for me. It has been a great experience so far.  Thanks!
