➡️Le barrage d'Olef est situé à proximité du parc national de l'Eifel près de Hellenthal dans le parc naturel des Hautes Fagnes-Eifel dans le comté d'Euskirchen dans le Land allemand de Rhénanie du Nord-Westphalie. Son réservoir stocke environ 20 millions de mètres cubes et est alimenté par la rivière Olef.
➡️L'Oleftalsperre a été construit entre 1954 et 1959. Dans les années 1960 et 1980, ce barrage de l'Eifel a été encore renforcé.
➡️La mise en service officielle et le chargement complet de l'Oleftalsperre ont eu lieu en 1965. La méthode de construction de ce barrage est unique en Allemagne, c'est ce qu'on appelle le « Pfeilerstaumauer ».
➡️Boucle de l'Eifel autour de l'Oleftalsperre est un itinéraire de +/- 14km
