M42 - The Orion Nebula - a photo on Flickriver

            The Orion Nebula is one of, if not the most famous, nebula in space. He is in the sword of the constellation Orion. The Orion Nebula also known as M42 is a birthplace for new stars. M42 is about 1350 light-years away and about 24 light-years in size. Its age is estimated at 3 million years. With a visual magnitude of 3.7, M42 is already visible to the naked eye.
