The Polly Woodside - Front - a photo on Flickriver

            A ton of work went into this image. I originally thought it would be a pretty standard long exposure photograph, but I was sadly mistaken. Even in the back of camera, I could see the top of the mast and all the ropes in the rigging were extremely blurred. Even though the water appeared perfectly still, and the ship was securely moored on both sides, there must have been nearly 1/2 a meter of sway at the top of the mast. 
I spent nearly 2 hours painstakingly masking a 1/4s exposure of the ship over the 75s background. Although the mask wasn't perfect, I'm really happy with the final result.
