A song for a mad king? [Explore 29.10.2023]

            Bust of King Ludwig II of Bavaria (25.8.1845 - 13.6.1886), internationally famous for his fairy-tale castle "Neuschwanstein", featured in the  film "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" (1968).

Ludwig, a romantic fantast, was the foremost patron of the composer Richard Wagner, funding the building of the Festival Theatre in Bayreuth for the performance of Wagner's "Ring" opera trilogy as well as the building of Wagner's residence "Wahnfried".
