Villa Impériale de Kontz - a photo on Flickriver

            À proximité de Trèves au beau milieu du cimetière se trouve les ruines d'une Villa Impériale romaine.
D'une terrasse à flanc de colline, la villa de Konz surplombait le confluent de la Sarre et de la Moselle. C'était un palais d'été impérial construit dans la 2e moitié du 4e siècle. Dans sa Moselle (versets 367-369), le poète romain tardif Ausone chante le paysage « sous les murs de l'empereur » - sub Augustis muris. Plusieurs édits impériaux qui donnent la date et le lieu ont été publiés pendant les mois d'été ici à Contionacum (aujourd'hui Konz).
