Wharf in Morning Light - a photo on Flickriver

This is probably my favourite shot from the morning shoot. The cloud coverage was a little more broken allowing the pastel blue of the early morning sky to come through. Shooting into the light also made the colours seem a little "warmer" than they were in the previous photo where I was shooting away from the light under heavy cloud cover.

This is the still working section of King's Wharf in Launceston. You can see where I took the previous two shots by the crane at the other end. But apart from the interesting array of signs here, the point of real historical interest is the tracks. These were probably used to run cranes along the wharf to load the ship.

The railway also ran right up to the wharf although I'm not sure these tracks were used for trains at all. I'll provide a link to footage from Launceston in 1957, and you'll see it was a vibrant small industrial city. That isn't the case anymore, and passenger trains ceased running by the end of the 50s. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im2v97Udz88
