Finally! The village of Whichford, Warwickshire.

            A rather steep and eroded descent into the village from near Whichford Woods.

The medieval church of St Michael, dating to the 12th century (never been in but sounds interesting) and next door  Whichford House, built as a rectory in the 17th century and embellished in the 18th and described by historians as "the finest rectory in the Cotswolds". 
(I'm not sure I'd describe this area as the Cotswolds. Almost but not quite. The stone's more ironstone than fine limestone...although if I was an Estate Agent, this is definitely the Cotswolds. Without doubt!)

On the horizon is, barely visible, the village of Brailes and on the left the 'pass' that climbs out of the village before dropping down towards Shipston-on-Stour and the southern edge of the Midlands plain. This always feels to me like the end of the 'west country' with its rougher, more rural edge.
