Well! That was a slog. View over East Meon, Hampshire.

            The start of a figure of eight walk starting and ending at East Meon; my legs required to go from sitting on two buses to get to the village, then the near vertical ascent of this, Park Hill. 

View south to the western end of the South Downs from above the village; the unusually sited Church of All Saints directly below me.

I met a very chatty local (a real one - born there!) in the village in the middle of my figure of eight walk who told me the church features in a local riddle: Where do cows graze higher than the steeple? (That may be a paraphrase, but something close to that.)

My walk starts at the church, loops north around this hill walking east and then back down to the village, out across the flat distant fields to climb up the green smooth slopes of the hill opposite. It then joins the South Downs Way before dropping down and following the curve of the distant woodlands in the centre of the image and, thankfully on yet another hot and humid day, a pint in the village!
Luckily the plan to have my other half, working and staying in Alton, pick me up at the pub worked out. I didn't fancy two village buses back, even if they existed which is doubtful.
