Prise de bec en altitude - a photo on Flickriver

            (Inde) - Ne jamais se fier à une photo sans légende. Ici, dans un village perdu dans l’Himalaya, contrairement à ce que l’on pourrait penser, ces femmes n’entonnent pas un chant traditionnel montagnard. Non, elles s’opposent dans une querelle de voisinage. 
Tôt le matin, après 5 jours passés dans le village, j’allais reprendre le chemin de la civilisation. A la sortie du village, je me suis retrouvé au milieu de l’altercation. La partie adverse se trouve hors-champ (derrière moi). On crie, on s’injurie … A un moment, deux femmes en sont venues aux mains. Une scène qui a attiré tout le quartier. Chacun a choisi son camps. Moi, au beau milieu du conflit, on m’ignore royalement. On me laisse photographier. Quel était le motif du différend ? Je ne l’ai jamais su. Ici, on ne parle qu’un dialecte que seuls les villageois comprennent. Ça ne facilite pas la communication.

(India) - Never trust a photo that doesn't have a caption. Here, in a village lost in the Himalayas, contrary to what one might think, these women are not singing a traditional mountain song. No, they are insulting each other in a neighborhood quarrel.
Early in the morning, after 5 days spent in the village, I was heading back to civilization. As I was leaving the village, I found myself in the middle of a big altercation. The opposing party was behind me. They were shouting, insulting each other and at one point, two women came to blows. A scene that attracted the entire neighborhood. Everyone chose their side. As for me, they royally ignored me and let me take my picture. What was the reason for the dispute? I never knew. Here, they only speak a dialect that only the villagers understand. It doesn't make communication easier.
