Le retour des coquillards - a photo on Flickriver

            Port-en-Bassin(France) - Premier port de Normandie en tonnage, Port-en-Bessin (Calvados) est aussi le premier port pour la coquille Saint-Jacques. Ce coquillard qui entre dans le sas pour accéder au bassin intérieur et aux quais - comme une soixantaine d'autres navires en attente derrière lui-, a passé la nuit en mer à racler les fonds marins. Pas terrible pour l’environnement. Si j'en crois les sacs et bacs en plastique remplis de coquilles, la pêche a été bonne. 
Je ne venais pas spécialement pour faire des photos mais pour prendre des contacts avec le comité local des pêches, afin d’embarquer sur un chalutier au printemps. J’étais donc venu avec mon chien. Quand j’ai vu le sas s’ouvrir et les bateaux s’engouffrer dans le sas étroit, j’ai dû photographier d’une seule main. De l’autre, je tenais mon chien en laisse. Et mon copain le chien ne tient pas en place. Une série réalisée avec handicap. La prochaine fois, je vais essayer de faire mieux et photographier avec une jambe en l'air ou les yeux bandés.

Port-en-Bassin (France) - Normandy's leading port in terms of tonnage, Port-en-Bessin (Calvados) is also the leading port for scallops. This coquillard which enters the airlock to access the interior basin and the quays - like around sixty other ships waiting behind it - has spent the night at sea scraping the seabed. Not terrible for the environment. Judging by the plastic bags and tubs full of shells, the fishing was good.
I did not come especially to take pictures but to make contact with the local fisheries committee, in order to embark on a trawler in the spring. So I came with my dog. When I saw the airlock open and the boats rush into the narrow airlock, I had to shoot with one hand. On the other, I held my dog on a leash. And my friend the dog can't stay still. A series produced with a disability. Next time I'll try to do better and shoot with one leg up or blindfolded.
