Κέρκυρα, σταυροδρόμι πολιτισμών - Corfu, crossroad of cultures

            Η πόλη της Κέρκυρας (μνημείο που ανήκει στη λίστα της UNESCO από το 2007), στα πλαίσια των μεσαιωνικών πρακτικών των αμυντικών έργων, περιτειχίστηκε από τους Βενετούς κατά τα έτη 1577-1588. Τα βενετσιάνικα τείχη περιέκλειαν ολόκληρη τη σημερινή παλιά πόλη, συμπεριλαμβάνοντας φυσικά και τα θαλάσσια μέτωπά της.
Τα Μουράγια , η βόρεια παραλιακή περιοχή της πόλης της Κέρκυρας η οποία αποτελούσε μέρος των τειχών, πήρε το όνομά της από την ιταλική λέξη muraglia που σημαίνει τείχος. 

The city of Corfu (monument that has been on the UNESCO list since 2007 ), in the context of the medieval practices of defense, was walled by the Venetians during the years 1577-1588. The Venetian walls surrounded the entire present-day old town, including of course its sea fronts.
Mouragia, the northern coastal area of the city of Corfu which was part of the walls, got its name from the Italian word muraglia which means wall.
