Semaphore Crab in the Rising Sun - a photo on Flickriver

            Juvenile Heloecius cordiformis shows some translucence as it saunters warily by its burrow in Currumbin Creek Estuary. Common inhabitants of mangrove inter-tidal zones this species grows to about 30mm. As its common name suggests the claws are used for communication.
