The Empire Hotel on the Pulteney Weir

A trip down to Four Marks in Hampshire to see some old friends from my BAe Systems days presented us with an opportunity for an overnight stay in Bath at an excellent hotel picked out by Mrs R yet again - the Francis Hotel on Queen Square. A perfect base for some of Bath's landmarks. I'd always fancied a crack at the Royal Crescent, The Circus and Pulteney Bridge and Weir. I would have done the baths as well but for the queues, cost and timing, which put paid to that and besides you can't take a tripod in so that got crossed off the list.

Here's the first... not the location I'd scouted on account of scaffolding right bang in the middle of my planned shot but further down the River Avon looking towards the Empire Hotel with St Michael's church in the background nicely backlit by the setting sun.
