Cloudy Cairo Signals - a photo on Flickriver

            Nice when a plan comes together - in this case, waiting for a southbound train to hit the Deshler railcam in the morning, then heading out and getting a few shots of it on its way south. CSX 3474 wound up being the leader on the train of the day for that - my initials plans to nab a photo north of here were foiled by the train on the right fouling the points, and also blocking off access to the signals to the north. Thankfully, the southbound stacks were able to clear that after waiting up at Ottawa for a local to pass by.

Right on Main Street in Cairo sits my targets - a pretty typical B&O CPL, plus a dwarf CPL. I wasn't here for long before the 3474 was shooting past the vintage signals, then I was on my way south as well. Thinking back on it now, I definitely could have - and should have - gone to shoot this in more locations south of here, but I only got it at one other. Still, I'm pleased to have gotten anything at all. The dwarf signal, though a little sneaky, is the real winner here!

I never did catch the symbol on this train, but it came out of North Baltimore I'm fairly certain - it at least took the connector at Deshler from westbound to southbound. I'm far from an expert on trains in this area, as you can imagine...
