2024.03.27.004 SRI LANKA - ANURADHAPURA - Le musée. Le halld'entrée.

            Avec une hauteur de 122 mètres, c'était le stupa le plus haut du monde et la troisième structure la plus haute du monde lorsqu'il fut construit par le roi Mahasena d'Anuradhapura (273-301).
Environ 93,3 millions de briques cuites ont été utilisées pour sa construction.
Ce stupa appartient à la secte Sagalika. Le complexe s'étend sur environ 5,6 hectares et aurait abrité 10 000 moines bouddhistes. Un côté du stupa mesure 176 m de long et les volées d'escaliers sur chacun des quatre côtés mesurent 9 m de large. Le montant de la porte du sanctuaire, situé dans la cour, mesure 8 m de haut. Le stupa a une fondation de 8,5 m de profondeur et repose sur un substrat rocheux.

At 122 metres high, it was the world's tallest stupa and the third tallest structure in the world when it was built by King Mahasena of Anuradhapura (273-301).
Around 93.3 million fired bricks were used in its construction.
This stupa belongs to the Sagalika sect. The complex covers around 5.6 hectares and is said to have been home to 10,000 Buddhist monks. One side of the stupa is 176 m long and the flights of steps on each of the four sides are 9 m wide. The doorpost to the sanctuary, located in the courtyard, is 8 m high. The stupa has a foundation 8.5 m deep and rests on bedrock.
