En 1859-1860, la chambre des marchand de Prague rachetèrent un terrain pour en faire leur hôpital : l'Hôpital de la Chambre de commerce de Prague, ça claque mais au final aucune trace de sa fonction initiale. Est-ce que c'était une sorte de mutuelle pour les commerçants ? Est-ce que c'était purement caritatif de la part de la chambre. Est-ce que les clients avaient le droit à une carte de fidélité ?

Quoi qu'il en soit ça ne dura pas. Dès la fin du XIXe siècle, le bâtiment se rattacha aux autres complexes médicales sis à proximité. Il fut donc une annexe d'hôpital et d'une maternité voisins, un institut de physiologie clinique, une clinique orthopédique et finalement aujourd'hui le bâtiment a pour fonction d'être l'Institut de physiologie normale, pathologique et clinique de la 3e Faculté de médecine de l'université Charles et héberge la Société pour l'étude et le traitement de la douleur.
