Viewing platform on the Takaosan summit

            West-facing terrace on the summit of Takaosan. It takes 50 minutes from Shinjuku to Takaosanguchi, a town at the foot of Takaosan. There is a funicular from Takaosanguchi to the Takaosan Yakuou'in (高尾山薬王院) temple near the summit. Since the access is easy, there are always plenty of people on the summit.

Michelin Green Guide of Japan made Takaosan famous by giving three stars to the sacred mountain. The principal reason for the rating is supposed to be the quality of nature as against its accessibility. It is a 50 minute train ride from Shinjuku.
