A NARCÍS OLLER (1932-1934), D'EUSEBI ARNAU I MASCORT

            Bust de Narcís Oller i Moragas, obra d'Eusebi Arnau i Mascort inaugurada l'any 1934. Eusebi Arnau va crear el bust en bronze l'any 1932 però no va ser fins l'any 1934 que van trobar un espai on col·locar-lo, la Via Augusta. Hi van assistir l'alcalde Carles Pi i Sunyer, el fill de Narcís Oller, el també novelista, Joan Oller i Rabassa, i el diputat de la Lliga Catalana, Joaquim Cabot. L'any 1942 van canviar el bust de la Via Laietana fins a la Plaça de Narcís Oller. El 1999 van substituir el pedestal de pedra per un d'acer corten obra d'Ignaci Sanfeliu.
El monument va ser impulsat per Francesc Matheu, que havia impulsat altres monuments dedicats a escriptors al Parc de la Ciutadella.
Narcís Oller i Moragas (Valls 1861-1931). Novel·lista d'estil naturalista autor de La febre d'or (1890), La bogeria (1898) i Pilar Prim (1905). Presidí els Jocs Florals de Barcelona el 1896.
