PAL DE BARBER - BARBERIA - CARRER DIPUTACIÓ

            El pal de barber és un tipus de senyal que indica l'activitat dels establiments on duen a terme la seva activitat. Emprat des de l'Edat Mitjana. És un pal amb una hèlix de ratlles (habitualment vermelles, blanques i blaves als Estats Units, o vermelles i blanques en altres països) i que pot ser fix o girar (amb un motor).
Arran de la fundació de la United Barber Surgeon's Company a Anglaterra els barbers havien de fer servir un pal blanc i blau, els cirurgians un pal vermell.
A França els cirurgians usaven un pal vermell unit a una palangana per identificar els seus establiments.
Als Estats Units s'hi afegeix el blau, combinats amb el vermell i el blanc, segons es creu, en honor als colors de la bandera.
Hi ha una altra interpretació: El color vermell representa la sang arterial, el blau a la sang de les venes, i el blanc l'embenat.
