Awakening - a photo on Flickriver

Awakening

            I have been following this tree since last fall and eagerly awaiting the changes that happen in the spring time.

Our new neighbor on the ridge is a 'Forester' he works with a program to rehab local farms and forests and promotes healthy forests.

I asked him to ID this tree for me since I'd had such a hard time figuring it out. It is a Hophornbeam Tree.

Common name for this tree is 
also Ironwood which is used for another Hornbeam Tree called the American Hornbeam.
