The late November R.H.T.T. with D.R.S. class 37 & 66 at Woodburn Junction - 0886+889

Finally the set rattles along another 'refurbished' piece of line taking the working along the curve and under the Shirland Lane bridge and past what used to be the Sheffield Arena, built in 1990, see-

It was finally demolished in 2014, 24 years after it was first built for the World Student Games, the demolishing process can be seen in this shot of my own, on the left and taken on April 24th, 2015-

After passing along the line under Shirland Lane, the working proceeds through Attercliffe and CArbrook, home to the large Ikea building and then Tinsley, joining the Sheffield Tram/Train system through Rotherham Central and Parkgate and on north to Hatfiled & Stainforth. The metal recycling centre at right is 'full to the gills' and there was a lot of banging and crashing going on, as the following, heavily 'sound-muted' (by 15dB) video will show. Although the Lower Don Valley line isn't a passenger line, though passenger traction of one sort or another does occasionally pass this way, the R.H.T.T. sprays are in full flow at the rear of the set, this now the 3S14, Woodburn Junction via Masbrough to York Thrall Europa working. The day's workings this day were-
* 3S11, York Thrall Europa to Sheffield,
* 3S12, Sheffield via Wakefield Kirkgate & Moorthorpe to Sheffield,
* 3S13, Sheffield via Gainsborough to Woodburn Junction and
* 3S14, Woodburn Junction via Masbrough to York Thrall Europa.

At right, bringing up the rear and adding a bit of contrasting colour to the now very brown looking leaf canopy, something I am sure would have easily been removed by last weeks 100m.p.h., in some places, 'Storm Arwen', is class 37, 37402, seen in the last few weeks on the York via Bridlington, Hull, Hatfield and back to York R.H.T.T. diagram, with the large B.R. InterCity logo prominent along with diminutive, 'Scotty Dog Emblem', all looking very grimy indeed along with the loco's name, 'Stephen Middlemore 23.12.1954 - 8.6.2013'. This lot continued to run all this week and as I type this, the set is currently at Wakefield Kirkgate having left on the Sheffield to Wrenthorpe, Wakefield, section and then on to Grimsby and from there finally back to York Thrall Europa, for 16:32, all on time...

Having taken shots of the set 'snaking' over the cross-overs from Down Lincoln, Up Lincoln and on to the L.D.V.L, it was time to make a 'speedy' getaway to try and photograph a Freightliner class 70 on the Dewsbury to Peak Forest working, unfortunately it ran 15 minutes early, the time taken to get to the Burton Weir/Norfolk Bridge location, and had passed by by the time I arrived; still the walk along the 'Five Weirs Walk' alongside the Don was pleasant enough.
