1930s chalet semis, nos 44 & 46 Broad Road, Willingdon, Sussex

            An example of    "The Chalet" semi (actually a pair of semis) with cat slide roof to each side, built in 1934-35 in Willingdon, Sussex (north of Eastbourne). The small squarish window under the steeply sloping roof lets daylight into the long, narrow loft that runs the entire depth of the house. This style of triangular loft under a sloping roof to the side of the house is called "cat loft" (kattvind) in Sweden. All the windows to the front have the original, leaded, diamond shaped small glass panes - even the little loft window!
