            This formerly overgrown storm water culvert and ditch is now better able to channels water away from the nearby airfields at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) - Randolph, in Texas, on Feburary 16, 2022.  Shrubs and bushes were recently removed. This provides a clearer path for water to flow through the base.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services (WS) Airport Wildlife Hazard Management Program's, local Wildlife Biologist Michael Pacheco uses Integrated Wildlife Damage Management (IWDM) to make recommendations, to base officials, for the renovation and use of the confluence of Woman Hollering Creek, culverts (SEEN), and storm ditches that flow through ponds and control valves that were originally designed as detention ponds to slow and control flightline storm water flow, but over years, they have become retention ponds that hold the water, provide favorable food, water, and shelter for wildlife which also supports birds and the hazards to flight activities. In some areas, the riparian area is clear and water flows easily, while most riparian areas have become lush; ideal habitat for many kinds of wildlife food sources. This wildlife sustains birds that are a flight safety hazard to the very active flight operations with the many pilots in training, that use the nearby runways on the east and west sides of the base.
