R8861. Connex Rugby - Gatwick Express at Milton Keynes.

            R8861.  In the early years of rail privatisation some of the new Train Operating Companies (TOCs) ran a promotion in conjunction with the daily papers to drum up new business.  By collecting vouchers from the papers, one could get cheap flat rate tickets to anywhere on a given TOC's network.  

I took advantage of this and, together with a work colleague and other friends, travelled the length and breadth of the country.  The first of these trips was to Plymouth with virgin Trains starting from Milton Keynes and changing at Birmingham New Street.  

This is a Connex up Rugby to Gatwick Airport Express made up of class 319 EMUs arriving at Milton Keynes early in the morning of Tuesday, 23rd February, 1999.
